Modular Make-up Brushes
A Gift Project for my Mentor
4 Weeks
This project was created to satisfy the needs of someone with a love for makeup , but who is constantly on the go. These makeup brushes are designed to be compact, without sacrificing the quality of your makeup routine . For this project we were limited to using three materials. I chose wood, glue, and hair.
Concept Statement
For this project I was assigned a student named Kennedy, to interview and design a gift based on her interests. Kennedy loved makeup but didn't always have time in the mornings to do her makeup before school. I set out to design a solution so that she could apply her makeup quickly and on the go.

Exploration of Materials
During my Interview Kennedy specified that she likes the aesthetics of a minimalist and her favorite color is purple. I kept this in mind during my wood selection process and chose a hard maple. For decoration I picked out a purple heart and yellow heart wood.
Prototyping
• I focused on a variety of shapes inspired by the history of shaving brushes.
• The shape of the handle was inspired by the ergonomics of the human hand.
